Difference Between GETDATE and CURRENT_TIMESTAMP in SQL Server

CURRENT_TIMESTAMP function in SQL Server is the ANSI SQL equivalent to GETDATE.
There is no difference between them and they both give the same result (system timestamp as a datetime value):

SELECT GETDATE() as GETDATE_result,
CURRENT_TIMESTAMP as CURRENT_TIMESTAMP_result

getdate_current_timestamp
